its about the timing of it, and rationalizing it. You mentioned driving it around as is.... well just FYI this is what i'm dealing with right now. All those other damages plus this:
I don't want to drive a car that looks like that, and i dont want to bring down the image of our car driving it around like that. I think there are more than enough terrible looking beat up z32's out there and i'd prefer not to add to the list.
So its apparent i can't just drive it around as is. Right now, if i paint my choices are a half assed full respray, or just painting the parts that need to be repainted. The result of either will be crap when it comes to the overall appearance of the car, and will only further accelerate my desire for a good paint job. I can deal with imperfect paint if it is consistent, but having a perfectly painted fender, hatch, and front bumper with 15 year old oem paint with rock chips will look terrible. So vinyl will give me at least a consistent look that i don't have to be embarrassed about driving around. I have a connection and i might be able to get it all done for <1500. In which case that will hold me over for a few years until its time to get a top notch paint job.
